Knit Natter & Play

Tuesdays 2pm to 4pm at St John's church hall, Nairn Street NE32 4HY. A knit group with facilities for children to play as you knit. You can knit, crochet, sew or anything else craft wise. Or just come and chat.

We have about a dozen ladies, one gentleman, and a few toddlers. There are a few toys to keep the little ones happy.  Come along and bring your craft project with you, it does not have to be kniting or crochet.  We do support a few charities by making various things but this is on a voluntary basis only.  And if you dont feel like being creative, just come along and enjoy the company.

Angels.  In 2017 we knit almost 800 angels as gifts for the local community.  They all had little gift tags which gave details of a service in church.  In 2018 we reached the huge target of 1000, which were distributed mid December.  Who knows how many we can knit this year? Please join in if you can knit.  Or if you don’t knit but would like to donate wool or money that would be fantastic.  Patterns are available from Susan – St. Paul’s, Judith – St. Peter’s, Christine – St. John’s and Jane – St. Simon’s.

Innocent Smoothies.  In 2018 450 hats have been knitted and sent off to Innocent to raise money for Age Concern.  Well done - £112.50 was raised by this Parish.  Thank you all knitters.

RVI premature babies.   80 hats have been knit in 2018 for premature babies born at the RVI.

Fish and Chip baby cloths.  There are babies born in the third world that are wrapped in newspapers as they have no clothes to wear. We have started to knit clothes for them. Patters available if you can help.

Knit and Natter and Play meets on Tuesday afternoons at St John’s Hall 2.00pm until 4.00pm.
