9 O’clock Coffee Stop.  Thursdays 9.00am. – 11.00am. is our weekly open house drop in at St  John the Baptist Church Hall.  All are welcome for coffee/teas and chat, all ages welcome. 

“Ships of Friendship” Flower Festival 11 – 14 July – St. Peter’s, Monkwearmouth, in celebration of the Tall Ships event.

 Wednesday 11 July – 7pm. DCC meeting at St. John the Baptist.

Churches Together South Tyneside “Modern Slavery – Does slavery really exist here?”  Meeting to be held at Sacred Heart Church, Boldon Colliery, on Thursday 12 July – 5.30pm-8.30pm.  Further information on Poster at back of church

 Saturday 14 July – 10am. to 12 Noon – Gardening at St. John the Baptist.

 Sunday 22 July.  Meeting of the recent Confirmation Group at St. John’s Hall, 4.00pm.  Please bring with you your blue “Confirmation Prayer” Books.

 Tuesday 24 July – 7pm. PCC meeting at St. Peter’s

Following discussions in the parish, we are planning to run “Holiday Stop” in the hall at St. John’s on Wednesdays, 8, 15 and 22 August 10am. to 12.30pm., aimed at primary school aged children and followed by lunch.  Volunteers are sought for helping with a) games, crafts, sports and b) preparing lunch on each of these days.  No previous experience necessary.  Please indicate on the sign up sheet which sessions you could do.

KYNREN – an epic tale of England.  The spectacular outdoor live action show is taking place again this summer with a cast and crew of 1,000, combining magnificent sets, stunts, horsemanship, pyrotechnics and much more.  Tickets are expensive but there is 10% discount for 10 or more, and 20% discount for 20 or more.  We hope to get tickets for Friday 31 August 8.00pm. (£40 ticket, at £36 or £32 with discount, plus coach fee/parking).  We would need to depart c.5.30/5.45pm to ensure adequate transfer time from park and ride.  Please sign up as soon as possible if you would like a ticket.

 Iona Trip   17-25 October 2018      There are still four places available on this 8 night trip staying in The Bishop’s House, Iona,  which is the retreat house of the Scottish Episcopal Church.   Please contact Revd Lizzie if you are interested in going or finding out more details.


PRE-ADVENT RETREAT at Shepherd’s Dene Retreat House, Riding Mill, led by Bishop Mark – 28th to 30th November 2018  48 hours from Wednesday afternoon to Friday afternoon.  £140.00 per person.  Places are limited so please sign up early if you would like to join in.  £40 deposit payable by 15th July.  Any places still vacant at 15 July will be offered to the wider Deanery.  An opportunity for some silence and stillness before the busy days of December.
